Every JL Atelier project begins with a conversation. There is no brief too early, no project too small to discuss. If you are thinking about a space — whether you have a clear vision or simply a feeling that something needs to change — we would be glad to hear from you.
We take on a limited number of new commissions each year, which allows us to give each project the full attention it deserves. We encourage you to reach out early, even if your project is not yet fully defined.
How to Begin
The best way to start is simply to describe your project — what you have, what you need, and roughly when you are hoping to begin. We will respond with initial thoughts and, if there is a potential fit, arrange a time to speak in more detail.
We work with clients across all project types: full-home redesigns, individual room commissions, hospitality and commercial projects, and standalone furniture commissions. If you are unsure whether your project falls within our scope, please reach out anyway — we are always happy to advise.
What Happens Next
Once we have spoken and confirmed that there is a good fit, we will arrange an initial site visit. This gives us the opportunity to understand your space in person before we begin any design work.
Following the site visit, we will prepare a project proposal outlining our recommended scope of work, the design process, timeline and fee structure. This proposal is prepared without obligation and is intended to give you a clear picture of what working with JL Atelier would look like before any commitment is made.
We believe that the relationship between a designer and a client is built on trust, and that trust is built gradually. We are not in the business of closing sales — we are in the business of doing exceptional work, and that begins with finding the right projects and the right people.
Studio Availability
Our studio is currently accepting new enquiries for projects beginning in the latter part of 2026 and into 2027. Lead times for bespoke furniture commissions vary depending on the complexity of the piece and the current schedule of our makers; please enquire directly for current availability.
We welcome enquiries from individuals, developers, architects and hospitality operators. Where a project involves collaboration with an existing design team, we are experienced in working within that context and happy to discuss how our involvement might best serve the project.
