A 19th century, French, chimney piece of streaked Carrara marble. The bowed shelf above the similarly bowed frieze carved with fruiting berry laden Bay Laurel leaves, attributes of Victory not only on the battle field but also in sport. The jambs are carved in high relief with loaded quivers holding feathered arrows from which fall buckled belts which terminate in tassels. The whole raised on squared foot blocks. Arrows were the attributes of the Roman God Apollo.
