A late 18th century, French, Limestone trumeau chimneypiece with over mantle. The jambs in the form of bracket shaped consuls decorated with flutes, upholding the frieze which is carved at the centre with a diamond shaped lozenge and flanked by a band of flutes mirroring the jambs. The over mantle with inset fielded rectangular panel flanked by ionic capped pilasters. See Cheminees des pays de la Loire du moyen age by Clement d’ Armont for other similar examples.
