An early 19th century, English chimney piece in streaked Carrara and Statuary marbles, of strong architectural form with bold and deep mouldings complementing the veins in the marble. The moulded shelf above the frieze which is centred with a large plain tablet flanked by twisting and writhe ring acanthus in white marble. The jambs, in the form of pilasters, the in-grounds with heavy dog leg mouldings. The whole resting on plinth blocks. Circa 1840
