A good and rare 18th century, English chimney piece carved from Painswick stone of strong but simple architectural design. The tiered moulded shelf above the frieze is centred with a plain tablet, flanked by bands of finger flutes. The architrave is deeply moulded. The plain jambs decorated with paterae and the blockings above are plain matching the centre tablet. The whole raised onplinth blocks.
