A magnificent mid 18thc. Chimneypiece in Statuary marble with heavily carved foliate pilasters headed by masks beneath carved trusses which support corner blockings carved with ewers. Richly figured convent siena flanks the pilasters and the central frieze tablet which is of architectural form inset with Sicilian Jasper. The breakfront shelf incorporates rope twist carving. A chimneypiece with identical jambs can be seen in Shuffrey's "The English Fireplace and its accessories".
